Atoma Diamond Sharpening Plates can be used in place of Whetstones and Natural Sharpening stones. They do tend to take more material, so it is recommended that you only use light pressure when using them.

The Atoma #1200 is the perfect choice for those who want a longer-lasting 1000 grit whetstone. When you compare the finish from a 1000 grit whetstone and the Atoma 1200 you will see there is little to no difference between them. The Atoma 1200 is not recommended for flattening your whetstones due to the very compact nature of the surface.

There is a second use for these diamond plates as they maintain their flat profile and that is to flatten whetstones and Natural sharpening stones.
