Japanese Kanna - Smoothing Plane - 42mm

$41.75 $62.65

This traditional 42mm Smoothing plane is designed to cut on the Pull stroke, unlike their Western cousins that cut on the push stroke. The 42mm is for smoothing smaller pieces of wood and chamfering corners.

These planes can be used for both soft and hardwood, however, you do need to ensure that the plane has a good edge for smoothing hardwood.

Japanese woodworking planes, or Kanna as they are known in Japan, do require a small amount of setup or tuning, prior to use, this is not a complicated task.
